In view of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic course, we are communicating with our partners in the Visegrád Group regarding their experience in this direction. A Newssky correspondent has asked Martin Poliačik, the deputy director of GLOBSEC Kyiv in Bratislava, to comment on what Slovakia acquired as a nation by becoming a member of the EU.

Membership in the European Union has significantly aided the Slovak economy. Countries from all over the world have received a signal that our country is a suitable place for investment. Joining the Schengen area and the eurozone only strengthened this signal. At the same time, thanks to its membership in the EU, Slovakia got the opportunity to jointly determine the direction of development of one of the world’s strongest economies. In the political, economic, and civilization sense, it has significantly advanced our country.
